Leadership
Kelly Skaggs spends his
work week selling an American Icon—Harley-Davidson Motorcycles—but is most
passionate about being “a tool at God’s disposal, to be used however He
desires to further His kingdom.” As a New Song elder, he views this church
as a “refuge of true Biblical instruction, worship and growth that allows us
to fall more deeply in love with our Savior Jesus Christ.” One thing Kelly
has come to realize through the months of church planting is how important
Godly friendships are as a foundation to deep spiritual growth. Kelly and
his wife Andi have three children, Cody, Wes and Bradyn, and he loves
spending as much time as possible with all of them.
Ron Maynard is a public school teacher
specializing in emotional and behavioral disorders in his professional life.
In his home life, he enjoys camping, caving, hiking and geo-caching with his
wife Amy and their two children Haylee and Madison. He sees New Song as an
extension of his own family where “we can all depend upon one another without
fear of judgment or ridicule.” While unsure why God called him to be an elder
at New Song, Ron is excited to see what his Savior has in store for him in His
divine purpose. As the Children’s Church Director, he sees children
as the future in which we need to invest time and prayer and New Song as a
comfortable and inviting home for anyone seeking the Savior, where both
parents and children feel New Song Church is their church. Since coming to
New Song, he’s learned “we’re never done growing in Christ” as God stretches
him in ways he never thought possible by using him in areas outside his
comfort zone.
Chris Greenwood A busy
husband and father, video producer and gentleman farmer, Chris Greenwood
is New Song's elder in charge of technology. Chris brings a great deal of
experience; he holds a BA in Broadcasting and in his job at J.H. Fletcher
& Co. he provides all types of graphics and media support. He knew God had
called him to be an elder at New Song after praying, "a lot," and
listening to the response of One who doesn't hide His will from His
children, rather points out the unique gifts and traits He's lovingly
given and expects us to use. He dreams (in the flesh!!) of a huge
building, lots of video and sound equipment, staff members for every
ministry--but his real prayer is for New Song to "be a place for people to
hear truth, come to know the One True Christ and be guided as they grow in
faith." In his spare time, Chris likes to hang out with his wife Susan and
sons Austin, Donevan and Kyle on their farm (a perfect place to raise
kids...and chickens, ducks etc.) He also plays bass in the New Song band
and runs sound on off weeks.
Kevin Cogar In addition to leading
small group studies and Home Groups as an Elder for New Song, Kevin is the owner of
Pro Action of Southern Ohio and an ECP Therapy Tech at St. Mary's
Hospital. Along with his wife Tammy and their three children Madison,
Tristan and Baylee, Kevin enjoys camping and attending professional
Motocross races. He wants to see New Song grow in quantity by first
growing in quality as a church people look forward to visiting because
they feel they're among family. He also wants to show people they can be
themselves, flaws included, and still have a relationship with God because
His love is unconditional. He says "God wants to use everyone to further
his kingdom on Earth" and sites Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans that
I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for
calamity to give you a future and a hope."
Schoch Donahoe Elder
Schoch Donahoe is a well-rounded and extremely active family man. He and
his wife Lara have four talented children--Caleb, Chance, Jesse and
Maggie--and are often on the road taking them to music lessons or soccer
practice. Before becoming a New Song elder, Schoch asked himself "is this
self-serving or self-crucifying?" He says he was then reminded through I
Corinthians 12:1-11 that "the foolish things or people God uses are
foolish from the world's perspective, not God's perspective. The ones God
chooses to minister are gifted by the Spirit to do the work he calls them
to do. A call without evidence is suspect, but I realized God has gifted
me for this job." Schoch works as a pharmaceutical representative and
spends his free time with his family, coaching youth soccer and playing
music.
